What is Lighting Assessment?
In simple terms, a lighting assessment is an examination of the lighting condition in an environment.
“Illuminance” is the parameter to be measured in a lighting assessment. It refers to the amount of light falling on a particular point or area and its measurement unit is “lux (lx)”.
Illuminance is measured by a luxmeter, conforming to internationally recognised specifications.
During an assessment the assessor may take illuminance measurement at different points with a luxmeter. The report will discuss the average value of these measurements as well as minimum and maximum values at different locations.
A lighting assessment may be used to evaluate the adequacy of lighting and decide whether improvement measures are needed.
